Valerie Lopes

Valerie Lopes is a Professor in the School of Arts and Science at Seneca College. Valerie has a PhD in Theory and Policy Studies in Higher Education with a focus on Community College Leadership from the University of Toronto. Valerie is the past Chair of the Education Technology Committee for the Ontario Colleges, and recently was a research consultant with the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario for their teaching and learning research projects. She is a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Education and Development using Information and Communication Technology. Valerie has taught courses at the certifcate, diploma, advanced diploma, degree and graduate levels, in traditional, blended and fully online environments and was one of the moderators of #ETMOOC, a massive open online conversation about educational technology and media. She has a number of publications; most recently she co-authored a Technology @Issue paper that examined the “Pitfalls and Potential of Technology Enhanced Instruction” as well as “Deciding to Transfer – A Study of College and University Choice”.
